SMC Chartered Surveyors are delighted to announce the sale of 203-205 Carr House Road in Doncaster, acting on behalf of the vendor, a private individual. The substantial building located on the A18 was purchased by Don Valley Cycles and will be the new retailing home for the 25 year old Doncaster cycle company.

SMC were instructed to sell the former ironmongers and Co-op building in April this year, thus achieving a completed sale in approximately 5 months. The 3,682 sq ft building located close to Doncaster town centre and Doncaster Racecourse offered substantial potential with extensive accommodation over ground and first floor levels, as well as ample parking space to the Danum Road side.

There was fierce interest from a number of owner occupiers demonstrating the increasing business confidence in Doncaster. We understand Don Valley Cycles will be soon start fitting out works to the property, relocating from their current trading address at 10 Chequers Road, Doncaster, DN1 2AF.

SMC had previously sold the building in the wake of the 2016 UK referendum on EU membership. The buyer at that time had sought to seek a change of use to redevelop the property as an A1 retail on the ground floor with 9 self contained flats to upper levels, which was declined by Doncaster Planning department in late 2017.

An improved sale price this time round provides evidence of positive market sentiments for Doncaster commercial property, despite broader market concerns in the intervening period.
